Antwerp Diamond district controls 80% of the diamond trade. Big business. Yet only one square mile of space.
It has been focused on diamonds since the 15th century. Lodewyk ban Berken changed the way diamonds were polished which made it the epicenter for the trade.
Today it houses 380 workshops and 1,500 companies. It has its own security. Even had metal poles that rise up from the ground to stop fleeing vehicles.
